Quartz tubing being worked on the lathe
Thomas Hession is necking down a large diameter quartz tube in this clip. Protective clothing and a face shield must be worn to provide shielding from the immense amount of heat given off by the hydrogen burners. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to work the material.
